Students have started their final paintings! I’m excited, because I can already tell that they are going to turn out well. I spent a lot of time talking about composition with the students and incorporated the principles of design into the lesson. I am MUCH happier with the way these compositions are turning out, which is good, not just because they look better, but because it proves that my students are learning and improving. Some students wanted to put a landscape in their painting, rather than just having fish in water. I knew this would be an added challenge, but as we are sixth graders and no longer in elementary school, I allowed them the freedom to make some of their own choices. I am excited to see these finished!
