The kids are finished with their paintings!

I am happy with how they turned out. We spent a lot of time discussing the principles of design and how to create movement, emphasis, and unity in a composition. I am also impressed with the creativity shown in the paintings! I presented the kids with a common theme-the koi fish-and allowed them to run with the idea. Some kids put their fish in a pond, some in a fish tank, some had waterfalls and landscapes that they incorporated. I wanted them to exercise their creative and artistic liberties to give them confidence in their own ideas, as well as to let me know as a teacher how much sixth graders can handle.
