The sixth graders are done with their masks! This has been a long project from start to finish, but that is to be expected with clay. It is the most successful clay project I have done with middle school kids, so I am happy about that! I am learning right along with my students, so it feels good to have a success. Next time, I will have the students roll their clay slabs thicker, maybe that will cut down on the number of repairs. We had our Potlatch (a Native American celebration) which involved a lot of junk food and a lot of mess, but also a lot of happy sixth graders. Check out our finished masks here!
